Sustainability

At Datum Electronics, sustainability is not a separate initiative, it is closely linked to how we design products, support customers and conduct our business.

For over 30 years, our precision measurement solutions have helped customers understand the performance of their propulsion systems and industrial machinery, in doing so supporting great improvements in fuel efficiency, equipment reliability and operational lifetime.

We recognise our responsibility to continually reduce the environmental impact of our operations.

Recent initiatives include:

Datum Electronics designs, manufactures and supports its products from its East Cowes and Newport sites on the Isle of Wight.

In 2026, we joined the Made in Britain organisation, reinforcing our commitment to UK manufacturing and helping customers identify products that are designed and produced through transparent and accountable supply chains.

We continue to work closely with suppliers, partners and customers to promote quality, reliability and responsible business practices throughout our value chain. This aligns with the wider sustainability objectives of the Indutrade Group, including responsible supply chain management and long-term value creation.

As part of the Indutrade Group, we are committed to continuously improving our environmental performance, supporting our people, and creating long-term value for customers and stakeholders.

One of the most significant ways Datum contributes to sustainability is through the application of measurement technology. Our torque, strain and shaft power monitoring systems help customers better understand the performance of machinery, vessels and industrial processes, enabling informed decisions that can improve efficiency, reduce waste and optimise operations.

Across the marine, industrial and research sectors, Datum systems are used to monitor power consumption, improve drivetrain performance, optimise manufacturing processes and support preventative maintenance strategies. By helping customers operate equipment more efficiently and extend asset life, our products can contribute to reduced resource consumption and improved long-term sustainability.

Through our partnership with Ecologi, we support global tree-planting and climate projects, helping to fund initiatives that contribute to carbon reduction and habitat restoration. We also support charitable organisations including Wessex Cancer Support and Macmillan Cancer Support, reflecting our commitment to the communities in which we live and work.

We are proud to partner with AquaAid Water Coolers and The Africa Trust to support access to clean drinking water in developing communities.
