Datum have returned from Greece recently where we enjoyed a fantastic show at Posidonia in Athens. It was one of the busiest shows we have attended over the past couple of years, and we were proud to have our own section in the British pavilion where we could talk about our high quality, British made products.

The Posidonia Exhibition is a leading trade fair in Greece for international shipping and sea tourism industries. It was well attended this year with over 32,000 visitors and over 2000 exhibitors from 138 countries from across the globe.

Dave Wheatley and Ben Thomas from our sales team attended the show alongside our lead marine project engineer, Charalampos Tsoumpris to talk to delegates about our cutting-edge solutions for increasing onboard vessel efficiency. We spoke to many vessel and fleet owners about Maritime 4.0 and how data is going to be the key to the industry going forwards. Our mission has always been to provide precise, usable data, through innovative products and techniques that will help the maritime industry to move closer to the Maritime 4.0 framework, setting the tone for the future of this industry.

We managed to speak to our friends at the Society of Maritime Industries otherwise known at the SMI, a trade association that we have recently joined for the UK’s maritime engineering, science and technology community. It was great to hear about the upcoming events that the association are planning and catch up on industry news.

Our Shaft Power Meter (SPM) was on show at the event to show how we provide real time and ongoing power monitoring data on propulsion shafts, thrusters and diesel generators. These devices are commonly used for fuel economy monitoring and equipment maintenance planning programs and can be used in conjunction with our EEXI | ShaPoLi solution to keep vessel owners in line with the latest legislation. Our showcase rig went down very well with delegates across the 5 days of the show.

We even had the opportunity to speak with the UK Ambassador to Greece, Matthew Lodge which gave us a fantastic opportunity to talk about relations between Greece and the UK and how the countries can work together for the greater good, providing sustainability to the industry.

All in all the show went exceptionally well and gave us an opportunity to develop new relationships and catch up with our partners and friends from around the globe.
